Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss has announced his decision to retire from active politics, stating that his son and party president Anbumani Ramadoss will handle party affairs going forward. The announcement was made at a family gathering in Thailapuram on the eve of his 88th birthday, Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Dr. Ramadoss's political career spans decades, marked by significant achievements and challenges, as well as alliances with prominent leaders at both the state and national levels. The decision brings closure to a period of internal discord within the PMK, following a reported falling out between the father and son ahead of recent elections.
