PM Modi chairs high-level meeting at Parliament with top ministers, NSA Ajit Doval

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing a high-level meeting at his Parliament office with key members of his government, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, according to official sources.

The meeting comes at a time when the government is dealing with multiple domestic and international issues. On the domestic front, Parliament has been deadlocked over student protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, with opposition parties demanding a discussion on the matter. The government has faced criticism over its handling of the protests, which began earlier this month.

Internationally, the meeting is expected to discuss the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, as well as Russia’s war in Ukraine, and their potential impact on India’s energy security. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is among those attending, indicating that energy supply concerns are on the agenda.

Other ministers present include Health Minister JP Nadda and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. The meeting is part of the Prime Minister’s routine consultations with his cabinet colleagues and senior officials to review the government’s agenda and address emerging challenges.

The meeting underscores the government’s focus on both parliamentary business and external affairs, as it seeks to navigate a complex geopolitical environment while managing domestic pressures.
