Pakistani Deputy PM's Relative Arrested in Gangrape of Two Foreign Women
Lahore police have arrested four men, including a relative of Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in connection with the alleged gangrape of two foreign nationals, authorities said on Friday.
The suspects were identified as Muhammad Raza Dar, Hassan Raza, Sikandar Khan and Sajid Ali. A Lahore court on Friday remanded them in police custody for five days. Police said a fifth suspect is absconding and raids are underway to apprehend him.
Muhammad Raza Dar is the prime suspect and is a close relative of Ishaq Dar, who serves as Pakistan's deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. A police officer told reporters that due to the sensitivity of the case, investigators are examining all angles.
The victims, one from the Netherlands and the other from Venezuela, were allegedly abducted and gangraped by five men in Lahore on June 29. Police rescued the women after receiving a call from Spain from one of the victims' fathers.
A case was registered on Thursday under sections 365A (kidnapping) and 375A (gang rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The women told police they met Raza Dar in Singapore in October 2025, and he invited them to visit Pakistan. According to a police official, the women and Raza Dar were partners in a cryptocurrency venture.
Raza Dar arranged business visas for their trip, and they arrived in Lahore on June 29. Upon arrival, the women alleged, Raza Dar and the other suspects abducted them, took them to a house, gangraped them, and demanded ransom for their release.
All four accused were produced before a magistrate, where the victims identified Raza Dar as the prime suspect, a court official said. Police continue to investigate the case.
