Over 2,800 traffic violators booked in Chennai special enforcement drive
The Greater Chennai Police conducted a special traffic enforcement drive from the night of June 19 to 21, aiming to improve road safety and reduce accidents across the city.
During the three-day operation, 355 traffic police personnel were deployed. A total of 122 vehicle check posts were set up at key locations, with intensive monitoring at major road junctions to detect violations such as drunken driving, overspeeding, rash driving, and riding without helmets.
Police registered 2,825 cases in total. Of these, 443 were for drunken driving, 110 for overspeeding and rash driving, and 2,272 for riding two-wheelers without helmets.
Officials stated that such enforcement drives will continue to promote road discipline and reduce accidents. Motorists were urged to follow traffic rules and cooperate with authorities for safer roads.
