NIA Chargesheets Pakistan-Based Terrorist Shehzad Bhatti and 7 Indians in Ambala Police Station Car Blast Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a chargesheet against eight individuals in connection with a car blast at Baldev Nagar police station in Haryana's Ambala district. The explosion, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), occurred in January this year.
The chargesheet, submitted before the Special NIA Court in Panchkula, names Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Shehzad Bhatti along with seven Indian nationals. The Indian accused are Karamjit Singh alias Tony, Akash, Soureb alias Sobi alias Sourab, Raman Kumar, Satyam, Sukhdev Singh alias Sukha, and Amarjeet Singh alias Ambi.
According to the NIA, Bhatti had established operational modules in India and assigned local operatives to arrange logistics and explosive substances for carrying out attacks on police establishments. The agency said Bhatti is wanted in other terrorist cases as well.
The accused have been charged under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, and the Telecommunication Act, 2023.
The NIA investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
