NEET-UG Candidate's Abu Dhabi Centre Error Fixed; NTA Cites Login Records

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has resolved a controversy over a NEET-UG candidate from Nagpur being initially allotted a test centre in Abu Dhabi for the re-examination scheduled on June 21, 2026. According to the agency, web activity records show that the candidate himself selected the foreign centre during the open correction window.

In a statement issued on Saturday evening, June 20, the NTA explained that its records indicate the city change was made through the candidate's own registered login. Despite this, the agency said it processed an informal request from the candidate, Abdullah, to switch the centre back to Nagpur. The NTA contacted the candidate's father on the evening of June 19, just 48 hours before the exam, to help complete the formalities.

The earlier complaint from Abdullah's family alleged an allotment error, claiming they had chosen a local centre in Maharashtra and could not arrange passport or visa formalities on short notice. The NTA initially acknowledged a technical glitch and assured a revised admit card with Nagpur as the centre.

In its latest post on X, the NTA elaborated that it observed a consistent single-user access pattern on three occasions: once when the centre was changed to Abu Dhabi using the candidate's credentials, and twice when the centre was previewed as Abu Dhabi. Nonetheless, the agency said it honoured the candidate's request and changed the centre.

NTA Director-General Abhishek Singh confirmed to ANI on Saturday that the discrepancy has been corrected, and the student has been assigned a centre in his home city.

The NTA also noted that approximately 3.2 lakh candidates used the correction window after the re-examination date was announced. Over 99.5% of students appearing for the re-test have been allotted their preferred examination city. The agency reiterated its student-first approach, stating that no candidate should miss the examination due to administrative doubts.

A nationwide mock drill was conducted on Saturday across the country ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination to ensure a smooth, secure, and transparent conduct of the medical entrance test.
