Telangana to Set Up Advanced Technology Centres in All 119 Assembly Constituencies
Labour, Employment and Training Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy announced on Tuesday that the Telangana government will establish Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) in all 119 Assembly constituencies. The initiative is aimed at equipping youth with cutting-edge, industry-oriented skills to enhance their employability and prepare them for future career opportunities.
The Minister performed the bhoomi puja for an ATC at Rudrangi in Rajanna Sircilla district, marking the start of the project. The centre is being established at an estimated cost of ₹45.15 crore. Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas was present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Venkataswamy said the government is creating a comprehensive ecosystem to support students in skill training and ensure their placement. He noted that the Congress government has transformed Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into ATCs as part of the effort to improve the employability of young people.
The initiative seeks to modernise skill development in response to the rapidly changing job market, which is increasingly shaped by emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Electric Vehicles, Robotics, and Drones, the Minister said. The ATCs are expected to provide hands-on training in these areas, enabling youth to meet the demands of modern industries.
The Minister also highlighted the role of the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) in helping skilled youth secure jobs abroad. TOMCOM, the State's agency for overseas employment, is working to connect job seekers with international employers. As part of these efforts, TOMCOM will facilitate overseas placements for candidates who successfully complete the training at the ATCs.
In a specific move for Rudrangi, Mr. Venkataswamy assured that a German language trainer would be deputed to the village if 100 eligible youth are identified. This is intended to prepare local youth for employment opportunities in Germany and other German-speaking countries, where skilled workers are in demand.
The establishment of the ATC at Rudrangi is particularly significant for the region, which is largely rural. The centre will bring advanced technical training closer to the local population, reducing the need for young people to migrate to urban centres for skill development. With modern facilities and industry-aligned courses, the ATC is expected to open up new avenues for employment.
The broader ATC initiative is part of the State government's strategy to strengthen infrastructure for vocational training. By upgrading ITIs into advanced centres, the government aims to create a skilled workforce that can cater to the needs of both domestic and international markets. The combination of technical education and overseas placement support reflects an integrated approach to addressing unemployment and fostering economic growth.
