Nagpur NEET Aspirant Gets Abu Dhabi as Exam Centre; Error Remains Uncorrected with Days Left
An 18-year-old NEET aspirant from Nagpur, Abdullah Mohammad Talib, was shocked to find his examination centre listed as Abu Dhabi on his hall ticket generated on June 14. The centre, Abu Dhabi Indian School, is over 2,500 km away and Talib does not possess a passport.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) provides overseas exam centres but typically for NRI or international students. Talib, a local resident, had not opted for any foreign centre.
The family immediately contacted the NTA helpline. An official assured them the error would be rectified, but with only two days left for the examination, the mistake remains uncorrected. The Talib family began urgently arranging travel documents and flight tickets, fearing they might have to travel abroad at short notice.
Talib was already under stress following the NEET paper leak and had not fully recovered. The hall ticket error added to his distress.
NTA officials did not respond to queries from The Times of India. Sources indicated that widespread changes may not be possible at this stage.
Several other parents have reported similar issues. After the NEET examination was cancelled last month, NTA sent messages asking if candidates wanted to retain their existing centre or choose a new one. Many parents said they selected the option to keep their original centre, especially those within Nagpur city limits. However, after downloading fresh hall tickets, some found their centres in far-flung locations, including other districts.
The error raises concerns about the NTA's handling of the examination process. With the exam date approaching, the affected families are seeking urgent rectification.
