Mysuru: 13.86 lakh ration card holders need re-KYC after 5 years
Mysuru district administration has directed ration card holders who completed five years since their e-KYC to undergo the process again, along with all members of their families. The move is part of the ongoing effort to ensure that the benefits of the Public Distribution System (PDS) reach eligible beneficiaries without leakage.
According to an official press release, 13,86,556 ration card members in the district have been identified as having completed five years since their last e-KYC. The names of these members have been displayed at the respective fair price shops for public reference.
Beneficiaries whose names appear on the list have been requested to visit their fair price shop and provide Aadhaar biometric authentication. The administration has clarified that this service is free of cost, and no charges should be paid to anyone.
The taluk-wise break-up of members requiring re-e-KYC is as follows: H.D. Kote – 1,02,967; Hunsur – 1,38,873; K.R. Nagar – 64,242; Mysuru city – 2,91,220; Mysuru taluk – 2,02,833; Nanjangud – 1,92,995; Periyapatna – 1,11,691; Saligrama – 71,603; Saragur – 51,214; and T. Narasipur – 1,58,918.
Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy, in the release, urged eligible ration card holders not to delay the process. He advised them to visit their fair price shops along with necessary documents, including the ration card, caste certificate (only for SC/ST beneficiaries), gas connection book, and a copy of the Aadhaar card.
The e-KYC process is a one-time authentication exercise linked to Aadhaar to verify the identity of ration card beneficiaries. Repeating it after five years is a standard requirement to keep records updated and ensure that subsidised food grains are distributed only to genuine families.
District authorities have appealed to all concerned to cooperate and complete the process at the earliest to avoid any disruption in their entitlements. For further assistance, beneficiaries can contact the nearest fair price shop or the office of the Assistant Director of Food and Civil Supplies.
