MP and Collector Push to Speed Up Stalled MPLADS Projects in Malappuram

E.T. Mohammed Basheer, Member of Parliament, and District Collector Vinay Goyal on Saturday directed officials to expedite projects under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), expressing concern over delays despite administrative sanction for most works.

Chairing a review meeting in Malappuram, the Collector instructed officials to complete all sanctioned projects within the stipulated timeframe and resolve technical issues delaying approval of remaining proposals.

During 2024-25 and 2025-26, the MP recommended 219 projects worth ₹11.52 crore. Administrative sanction was accorded to 136 projects costing ₹7.66 crore. Of these, only nine have been completed, while 127 are at various stages of implementation.

The meeting also reviewed Scheduled Caste development works. Of the 55 projects recommended, only 13 have received administrative sanction, and three have been completed.

Officials were directed to utilise the ₹16.39 crore available under the MP's local area development fund by accelerating sanctioned works and securing approvals for pending projects. They were also asked to ensure that development benefits, including those in Scheduled Caste areas, reached beneficiaries without delay.

The meeting stressed better coordination through the e-Sakshi portal to monitor progress and directed that all 127 ongoing projects be completed within the prescribed schedule.

District Planning Officer T.V. Shaju, Finance Officer E. Praseetha, and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.
