Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Hospitalised with High Fever, Throat Infection
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was admitted to a private hospital in Thane on Friday after developing a high fever and throat infection, party officials said.
According to preliminary information, Shinde's symptoms worsened while legislative proceedings were underway. A Shiv Sena leader stated, "Keeping him at home would mean that people will continue visiting, and he wouldn't get the necessary rest. As a result, the family decided to keep him at a private hospital to ensure he gets rest."
Meanwhile, a program for the induction of Shubhangi Patil, a former functionary of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), into the party—scheduled for Friday afternoon in Thane—had to be cancelled due to Shinde's ill health.
Shinde, who leads the Shiv Sena faction aligned with the BJP, has been an influential figure in Maharashtra politics. His hospitalisation comes amid ongoing legislative sessions and political activities in the state.
Further updates on his health are awaited.
