Litigant disrupts Supreme Court hearing, hurls papers, removed by security

The Supreme Court witnessed an unusual incident on Friday when a litigant, appearing in person before a bench, shouted at the judges and threw papers before being escorted out by security personnel.

The incident occurred before a bench of Justices K V Viswanathan and Alok Aradhe. The litigant, identified as Prabal Pratap, hailed from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, though it was not immediately clear what his grievance was, according to court sources.

As soon as he appeared, the judges asked, 'Are you the party in person? Mr Prabal Pratap?' The petitioner answered in the affirmative but then addressed the bench aggressively, saying, 'Mr judicial servant, I order you to order an FIR against the ACP, Vikasnagar, Lucknow.'

Justice Viswanathan responded, 'You are ordering me? You are ordering us?' Security personnel then removed the litigant from the courtroom. The bench later decided not to initiate any contempt or other action against him.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by the judiciary in maintaining decorum when parties appear in person without legal representation.
