Kerala HC Seeks State's Response on Bail Plea of ED Attack Accused
The Kerala High Court has called for the state government's response on a bail petition filed by Kiran P.S., one of the individuals accused in the attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials during a raid at the residence of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in May.
The case involves 25 accused charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984, for assault and vandalism of official vehicles. Initially, around 300 people were booked in connection with the alleged assault. The court is scheduled to hear the matter on July 30, along with bail petitions from two other accused.
The ED had conducted raids at Vijayan's properties in Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram as part of a long-standing investigation into whether his daughter T. Veena's now-defunct firm, Exalogic, received substantial monthly payments from Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL), a mining company, allegedly without providing any genuine services.
