Kejriwal urges Sonam Wangchuk to end hunger strike, promises support at Jantar Mantar

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday extended his party's support to the ongoing protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, and appealed to climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his indefinite hunger strike.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Kejriwal said he will visit Jantar Mantar at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, to personally extend his support to Mr. Wangchuk and the CJP protest.

"Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike for some days, and his health is deteriorating. He is an asset of the country, and I appeal to him to end his hunger strike. There are other ways also for the struggle," the former Delhi Chief Minister said.

Mr. Kejriwal stated that the AAP supports the CJP protest and its demands, and called for the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He added that the examination system must be improved to prevent paper leaks and protect students from future problems.

Earlier on Monday, AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi met Mr. Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar.

The CJP has been holding a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding Mr. Pradhan's resignation over alleged irregularities in the NEET and other examinations. Mr. Wangchuk joined the agitation on June 28 and has been on an indefinite fast since then.
