Karnataka: Enrol in Voter List Revision to Get Guarantee Benefits, Says Congress
Former MLA and Congress leader Anjali Nimbalkar has urged eligible voters in Karnataka to enrol in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Speaking at a press conference in Belagavi on July 17, she warned that those whose names do not appear in the revised rolls may find it difficult to access benefits under the government's guarantee schemes.
Nimbalkar, who was recently appointed as the Congress party's in-charge of the SIR process for the Kittur Karnataka region, alleged that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre is attempting to deprive eligible voters of their citizenship rights under the guise of the revision. She called on citizens to remain vigilant and protect their rights by coordinating with election officers and seeking assistance from Booth Level Agents (BLAs) if needed.
Later, she chaired a meeting at the Belagavi District Congress Committee (DCC) office with district unit President Vinay Navalgatti and block presidents to review the work of party workers acting as BLAs. She noted that the voter list digitisation process is about 60-70 per cent complete and that senior officers have instructed that the remaining 30 per cent be finished soon.
Nimbalkar advised those whose names are not yet mapped in the voter list to immediately fill Form No. 6 and submit it at the block level or at the tahsildar's office. She urged party workers and BLAs to assist voters in this process.
