Jharkhand Students' Protest Over Exam Irregularities Enters 14th Day; March to Assembly Held
Student organisations in Jharkhand marched towards the State Assembly on Friday as their protest over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations entered its 14th day. The march, called the 'Vidhan Sabha March', began at 11 am, with student groups urging aspirants from across the state to join in.
The protesters are demanding a corruption-free recruitment process in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). Demonstrations have also been held outside the state in solidarity with the aspirants, reflecting the widespread concern over the issue.
Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly and BJP leader Babulal Marandi criticised the state government over its handling of the protest. He said the government should engage in dialogue with the protesting students instead of avoiding them. His remarks come amid growing pressure on the administration to address the students' grievances.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) has so far arrested 19 people in connection with the alleged irregularities in the JPSC recruitment examinations. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into how question papers and selection processes were compromised.
The protest has received support from several student organisations across the state, who have called for a transparent and merit-based recruitment system. Many aspirants have been staging sit-ins and rallies, demanding action against those responsible for the irregularities.
The state government has not yet issued a formal response to the latest march. However, officials have previously stated that investigations are underway and strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
As the protest continues, observers note that the issue has become a significant test for the state administration's ability to handle public grievances while ensuring fairness in government recruitment. The students have vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met.
