Jaishankar meets Qatar PM, lauds mediation as US-Iran talks resume

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha on Wednesday, discussing regional issues and praising Qatar's mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.

The meeting comes as the US and Iran have returned to the negotiating table, with Qatar playing a key role in facilitating dialogue. Jaishankar expressed India's support for peaceful resolution through diplomacy.

Both leaders reviewed bilateral ties and exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and the broader Gulf region. Jaishankar thanked Qatar for its cooperation with India, especially in evacuating Indians from conflict zones.

India has historically maintained good relations with both Iran and the US, and has backed diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in West Asia.
