Jaipur: Cross FIRs after CJP team, villagers clash during school inspection
A political outfit and local residents in a Rajasthan village have filed cross complaints against each other after a confrontation during a visit to a government school. The incident took place on Friday (August 21, 2026) when members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) arrived at Rampura Kanwarpura village in Jaipur to inspect the condition of the school under their 'School Thik Karo' campaign.
The CJP team alleged that they were attacked by villagers, whom they described as “BJP goons”. In contrast, some villagers claimed that the presence of the team caused fear among residents and that children were scared to attend school.
The school had been functioning from a cattle enclosure after its building was declared unsafe. On Saturday morning (August 22, 2026), the authorities shifted the students to new premises, according to officials.
Shivdaspura SHO Rajesh Gautam confirmed that two FIRs have been registered. A local villager filed a complaint alleging that CJP members arrived in large numbers and intimidated residents. A separate complaint was filed by a CJP member, accusing villagers of assaulting the team during the incident and demanding immediate arrest of those responsible.
Reacting to the developments, CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka alleged that the attackers were “goons” called by BJP leaders. “We have videos and all the evidence. If they also have evidence, let them show it,” he said.
Purported videos of the incident show a large number of people engaged in a heated exchange with the CJP team, with pushing and shoving as the team tried to enter the village. Some clips also show smashed windows of cars believed to belong to the visiting team.
Villagers, allegedly accompanied by BJP workers, had put up barricades and forcibly pushed back the CJP team. They claimed that the government had already sanctioned funds for repair of the school building and that work could be carried out with local efforts.
The cross FIRs highlight the tension between political activists and local residents over the functioning of government schools in rural areas. The authorities have said that the investigation is underway and both sides have been asked to cooperate.
