Jagan Mohan Reddy directs YSRCP MPs to raise state issues in Parliament monsoon session
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday directed the party's Members of Parliament to raise several issues concerning Andhra Pradesh during the monsoon session of Parliament, which begins on July 20. Addressing the YSRCP Parliamentary Party meeting, Reddy claimed that governance in the state had 'completely collapsed' and urged MPs to highlight corruption, illegal cases, farmer distress, employee problems, rising debt, and alleged scams.
Reddy also reiterated the party's support for the Women's Reservation Bill. He alleged serious irregularities in the filling of teacher posts through the DSC (District Selection Committee), including appointments without candidates having written the competitive examination. He further claimed that land allotments across the state had become arbitrary and corrupt.
Speaking about the construction of the new capital Amaravati, Reddy alleged that costs had exceeded ₹20,000 per square foot, a rate he described as 'unheard of anywhere in the country'. He claimed that farmers who refused to give their lands under the pooling scheme were being harassed and their lands forcibly taken.
Reddy accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of unleashing repression in the name of social media, getting people arrested at will, and attacking democratic rights. He directed MPs to raise these issues in Parliament. He also asked them to take up problems faced by teachers due to the mandatory TET requirement and highlight the alleged distribution of public assets as freebies to private parties. He questioned the privatisation of ports and harbours, specifically citing the Ramayapatnam Port, worth around ₹5,000 crore, which he claimed was handed over for just ₹1,500 crore.
Among those present at the meeting were Rajya Sabha members V.Y. Subba Reddy, Meda Raghunath Reddy, and Golla Baburao; Lok Sabha floor leader P. Mithun Reddy; MPs M. Gurumoorthy, Y.S. Avinash Reddy, and Gumma Tanuja Rani; and former MPs Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy.
Later, Reddy launched the official 'Jagan 2.0 Super App' at the YSRCP central office, describing it as a dedicated digital platform that would connect every party worker directly with the leadership and enable them to express their views without fear.
