IndiGo to resume daily Delhi-Belagavi flights from October 1
IndiGo Airlines will resume daily flight service between New Delhi and Belagavi starting October 1, according to BJP leader and MP Jagadish Shettar. The announcement comes after a period when the service was reduced to just three days a week, affecting passengers who relied on the route for business and personal travel.
The airline will operate flights on the New Delhi-Belagavi-New Delhi route every day of the week. The outbound flight will depart from Delhi at 6:15 a.m. and arrive in Belagavi at 8:40 a.m. The return flight will leave Belagavi at 9:10 a.m. and reach Delhi at 11:40 a.m., according to a statement released by the MP's office on Thursday.
The frequency reduction to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday earlier this year had prompted concerns among industrialists, businessmen, doctors, and local residents in the Belagavi region. They approached MP Jagadish Shettar with requests to restore daily connectivity, highlighting the importance of the route for economic activity and access to the national capital.
Acting on these representations, Shettar took up the matter with Union Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu and also held discussions with IndiGo officials. The minister and airline management responded positively, leading to the decision to resume daily operations.
In his statement, Shettar expressed gratitude to the Union Minister and IndiGo officials for their prompt action. He said the restored service would benefit passengers, boost trade and tourism, and improve connectivity for the region. Belagavi, a key city in northern Karnataka, serves as a commercial hub and is also an important destination for patients seeking medical treatment in Delhi.
The daily flights are expected to ease scheduling challenges for frequent flyers and provide more flexibility for those travelling between the two cities. The timing of the flights—early morning from Delhi and mid-morning return—has been designed to allow a full day of work or appointments in either city.
This development reflects ongoing efforts to enhance regional air connectivity, particularly for tier-2 and tier-3 cities that benefit from regular access to major metros. The resumption of daily service is seen as a positive step for Belagavi's integration with the national aviation network.
Passengers have been advised to check the IndiGo website or mobile app for booking and any schedule updates. The airline has not issued an independent statement, but the MP's announcement is based on official communication from the airline.
