Indian-origin NASA astronaut Anil Menon shares first glimpse from ISS after arrival
Indian-origin NASA astronaut Anil Menon has shared his first video from the International Space Station (ISS) after arriving aboard the Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft. The video, posted on social media, offers a view of Earth from the orbiting laboratory.
Menon, who has roots in the Indian state of Kerala, travelled to the ISS alongside Roscosmos cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina. The three launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 10:47 am EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) on Tuesday, completing a rapid three-hour, two-orbit journey.
The Soyuz capsule docked with the ISS's Prichal module at 1:52 pm EDT, temporarily increasing the station's crew to 10 members for the next two weeks. Menon's video, recorded hours after his arrival, provides a glimpse of Earth from orbit.
Menon is part of a NASA mission and his presence on the ISS highlights the growing contribution of people of Indian origin in space exploration. The ISS continues to serve as a platform for international scientific collaboration, with astronauts from multiple countries conducting experiments in microgravity.
