India Extends Lobbying Contract with Trump Aide Jason Miller’s Firm

The Indian government has renewed its lobbying contract in the United States with SHW Partners LLC, a firm headed by Jason Miller, a close associate of President Donald Trump. The extension, formalised through a filing under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), secures the firm's services for another year at a monthly fee of $150,000 (approximately Rs 1.43 crore). The contract now runs until April 23, 2027.

SHW Partners LLC was initially hired by the Indian Embassy in Washington in April 2025 for an annual amount of $1.8 million (about Rs 17 crore). The renewed agreement continues the same terms. Under the contract, the firm is to provide 'strategic counsel, tactical planning, and government relations assistance on policy matters before the US government, the US Congress, state governments, academic institutions, think tanks, and other relevant stakeholders,' according to the documents.

The move is part of India's ongoing efforts to maintain and strengthen diplomatic and policy engagement with the United States. Hiring American lobbying firms is a common practice among foreign governments seeking to navigate the US political landscape and advance their interests.

Jason Miller, who served as President Trump’s chief spokesperson during the 2016 campaign and his subsequent presidential transition, has remained a prominent figure in Trump's political circle. His firm’s continued retention by the Indian government underscores the importance India places on direct access to influential voices within the current US administration.
