Gujarat's first urban cable-stayed bridge inaugurated at Rs 175 crore

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated a new cable-stayed flyover bridge at Bhat Crossroads on the Gandhinagar–Ahmedabad Airport Road on Sunday. The bridge, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 175 crore, is the first of its kind in an urban area of the state.

The 1.48-km-long bridge is designed to ease traffic congestion on the busy corridor connecting Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. The project was jointly executed by the state government's Roads and Buildings Department and the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), with each agency contributing 50 per cent of the cost.

During the event, the chief minister also performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of a six-lane bridge over the Narmada Main Canal between Koba Circle and Bhat Circle. This expansion, part of a Rs 48-crore project, involves constructing new three-lane bridges on either side of the existing bridge, ultimately creating a 12-lane facility. The initiative aims to further improve traffic flow on the Gandhinagar–Ahmedabad corridor.
