Former Andhra Minister Jogi Ramesh and 10 Relatives Charged in Dowry Harassment Case

The West Zone police of the NTR Commissionerate have registered a case against former Minister Jogi Ramesh and 10 members of his family on charges of dowry harassment and attempt to murder.

The Ibrahimpatnam police registered the case on Friday based on a complaint lodged by Mr. Ramesh’s daughter-in-law, who alleged that she had been subjected to dowry harassment and physical and mental torture. An investigation is under way.

Dowry harassment is a criminal offence under the Dowry Prohibition Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The accused include the former minister and his close relatives. The complainant has sought legal action, and the police have assured a thorough investigation. No arrests have been reported as of now.
