Flipkart Delivery Agent Arrested in Bengaluru for Alleged Sexual Harassment After Forcibly Entering Flat

The Bengaluru police have arrested a Flipkart delivery agent on charges of forcing his way into a woman's apartment and sexually harassing her. The accused, identified as Vijay Mallikarjun Kamath, was taken into custody following a complaint filed by the woman.

According to the police, the incident occurred when the delivery agent arrived at the woman's residence to deliver a parcel. The woman alleged that the agent requested permission to use her washroom, which she politely refused, stating that she did not allow strangers inside her home. She suggested he ask her male neighbours instead. Despite her repeated refusals, the agent allegedly forced his way into the flat and exposed himself, leaving the woman distressed.

The woman recorded a video of the encounter and shared it on social media, which drew attention to the incident. In the video, she can be heard repeatedly telling the agent to leave. The video was widely circulated, prompting the police to take swift action.

Police officials confirmed that the accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for sexual harassment and criminal trespass. He was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.

Flipkart, in a statement, expressed solidarity with the victim and said it is cooperating with the authorities in the investigation. The company also confirmed that the delivery agent's association with the platform has been terminated.

This incident has reignited concerns about the safety of women in urban spaces and the accountability of delivery platforms. The police have urged citizens to report any similar incidents and assured that strict action will be taken against offenders.
