DVAC Raids Six Premises of Former DMK Minister Senthilbalaji in Karur Over TASMAC Irregularities
Officials from the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted searches at six locations linked to former DMK Minister V. Senthilbalaji in Karur district on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. The searches are part of an investigation into alleged malpractices in the sale and supply of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) at TASMAC outlets during the previous DMK regime.
The premises searched include the ancestral home of Mr. Senthilbalaji at Rameswarapatti, the residence of his personal assistant at Moorthypalayam, and the house of a DMK union secretary at Koyampalli. The office of the TASMAC District Manager was also among the locations searched.
DVAC officials, drawn from various parts of the state, began simultaneous searches around 7 a.m. on Wednesday. They questioned Mr. Senthilbalaji’s father, Velusamy, at the Rameswarapatti residence. Authorities restricted entry to the search premises, and police personnel were deployed outside the locations.
The searches are part of a broader investigation into alleged irregularities in TASMAC operations during the tenure of the previous DMK government. No arrests have been made, and further inquiries are underway.
