Delhi Metro's Central Vista Corridor Construction Begins: Key Stations and Timeline
Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal officially inaugurated the construction of the Delhi Metro’s Central Vista corridor on Wednesday. The 9.913-kilometre underground stretch will extend the Magenta Line from RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, featuring eight new stations.
The corridor is part of the broader Central Vista redevelopment project and aims to improve connectivity in central Delhi. The eight stations on the route are: Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial-High Court, Baroda House, and Bharat Mandapam.
The Central Secretariat station will become a triple interchange, linking the new Magenta Line extension with the existing Yellow and Violet lines, enhancing commuter access. The two terminal stations, RK Ashram Marg and Indraprastha, are already part of other Metro lines, ensuring seamless integration.
Official completion dates have not been announced, but the project is expected to be completed within the next few years, subject to construction timelines. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will oversee the work, which is part of the city's ongoing expansion to meet growing public transport demand.
