Delhi Greenlights ₹264 Crore Upgrade for 75 Government Schools

The Delhi government has approved an expenditure of ₹264 crore to renovate and upgrade infrastructure at 75 CM SHRI Schools, the Chief Minister's Office announced on Thursday. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday.

The approved projects include installation of CCTV systems, development of sports facilities, repair of rainwater harvesting systems, and renovation of multipurpose halls. The statement from the Chief Minister's Office said that the government aims to develop government schools into modern educational campuses that provide a safe, inclusive, technology-enabled, and high-quality learning environment.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the importance of creating an environment where students have access to modern facilities. The upgrades are expected to benefit thousands of students across the 75 schools. The CM SHRI Schools are part of the Delhi government's initiative to improve the quality of education in government-run institutions.

This move aligns with the broader goals of enhancing educational infrastructure and ensuring that government schools are on par with private institutions. The installation of CCTV systems is particularly aimed at improving safety and security for students and staff. The development of sports facilities is intended to promote physical activity and overall well-being.

The Delhi government has been focusing on education reforms, including upgrading school infrastructure, teacher training, and curriculum improvements. This latest approval is a continuation of those efforts.
