Cybercrime Victims: Use Only Official Portal for Refund Claims, Warns Telangana Cyber Bureau

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has issued an advisory urging cybercrime victims who receive a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) about a refund to submit their claims exclusively through the Money Restoration Module (MRM) on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal.

The MRM is designed to facilitate the seamless restoration of funds lost in cyber frauds after verification by law enforcement agencies and banks. Victims must log in to the portal using the mobile number linked to their complaint, complete OTP verification, select the eligible complaint and earmarked bank account, upload PAN details where applicable, review the refund details, and submit the request.

The TGCSB has cautioned victims against sharing OTPs, passwords, banking credentials, or personal information with anyone claiming to expedite the refund process. The Bureau emphasized that no fee is charged for submitting a refund request through the MRM.

For assistance or clarification, citizens can contact the TGCSB help desk at 8712665600 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., approach their jurisdictional police station, or get in touch with the investigating officer handling their complaint.
