Cow Theft in Kasaragod: Two Arrested, Three Fugitives Sought After Animal Sold to Slaughterhouse

The Badiadka police have arrested two individuals from Mangaluru in connection with the alleged theft of a cow from Kanyappady, while a search is underway for three more suspects involved in the incident.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rasiq, 21, a resident of Jokatte, Mangaluru, and Mohammed Irbas, 26, from Ullal. They were taken into custody from Mangaluru town on Friday afternoon, according to police officials.

During the operation, law enforcement officers also seized a car believed to have been used to transport the stolen animal. Interrogation of the accused revealed that the cow had been sold to a slaughterhouse in Ullal, police said.

The arrested individuals are expected to be produced before a court, while authorities have intensified efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining three suspects. The police have not disclosed further details about the identity or whereabouts of the fugitives at this stage.

The case has drawn attention to issues of cattle theft and illegal slaughter in the region, though police have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and all accused will be treated according to the law.
