CJP Ends 36-Day NEET Protest After Government Accepts Demands, Fresh Talks Scheduled

Protesting students of the CJP have withdrawn their 36-day sit-in at Jantar Mantar after the government accepted their key demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The decision was announced on Saturday following a joint press conference with Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das confirmed that the government agreed to provide compensation to families of students who died by suicide after the NEET cancellation, and to withdraw FIRs filed in Delhi and other states. The next round of discussions will take place in four weeks to address broader reforms in examination systems.

Union Minister JP Nadda said the government would not take retaliatory action against protesters and that any existing FIRs would be withdrawn. He also assured that compensation would be provided 'within the rules' to the families affected.

The CJP had been demanding accountability over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and irregularities in CBSE's on-screen marking process. The agitation, which began on June 20, drew support from opposition parties and thousands of students across the country.

Dharmendra Pradhan resigned earlier on Saturday, stating that the move was not about personal prestige but to prevent anti-national forces from exploiting the situation. The government and CJP agreed to meet again in four weeks to work on comprehensive examination reforms.
