Champai Soren Seeks High Court Monitored CBI Probe into JPSC, JSSC Irregularities

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Champai Soren on Sunday urged the Jharkhand High Court to take suo motu cognisance of alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). He called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into all recruitment processes carried out by these two bodies over the past few years.

In a social media post, Mr. Soren said that those 'toying with the future of the youths' should not receive government protection but instead face stringent punishment. He demanded that the High Court order a CBI probe into every recruitment process by the JSSC and JPSC.

Mr. Soren alleged that government jobs were being 'auctioned off' through blacklisted agencies under the patronage of those in power. He claimed that the dreams of young aspirants were being continuously trampled upon, while the ruling party members remained silent. He also criticised the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), stating that its involvement in cases was aimed at 'trapping small fish to shield big players', citing examples such as the liquor scam.

Referring to the JPSC, Mr. Soren alleged that relatives of those in top positions were sitting on interview panels, deceiving the youth. He expressed doubts about the impartiality of the CID investigation, given that the JPSC chairman has been accused of corruption and several employees are under arrest. He further noted that nearly one-and-a-half dozen aspirants died during a physical test for excise constable recruitment, and accused the government of remaining silent on the matter.

The state government has not yet responded to Mr. Soren's allegations. The JPSC and JSSC have faced criticism in the past over concerns about transparency and fairness in recruitment processes.
