Central Railway Cancels Nine Trains for a Week Due to Landslide Repair Works
The Central Railway has cancelled nine train services for nearly a week and short-terminated or diverted several others due to ongoing repair works in the South East ghat section between Karjat and Lonavala, officials said on Friday.
The section was damaged in recent landslides, prompting the railway to undertake restoration work. The South East Down line and the Middle line between Karjat and Lonavala were restored on July 14, allowing several trains to resume normal operations. However, work to restore the third line, the South East ghat section, is still in progress, leading to continued disruptions on several routes, the Railways said in a statement.
The cancellations and diversions are in effect until July 24. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules before travelling.
