BJP Report Card on PM Modi's Foreign Tours Includes Attack on Rahul Gandhi

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday presented what it termed a 'report card' on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visits to Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand, while simultaneously attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is currently abroad.

Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that the Prime Minister's tours had secured 'victory for the country' and suggested that Mr. Gandhi, who has been travelling overseas, must be 'conspiring behind closed doors' and 'plotting' to disrupt the government's work.

Mr. Patra cited remarks by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who reportedly said he had adopted many of PM Modi's policies. The BJP leader used this to criticise Mr. Gandhi, saying that if the Congress leader had emulated PM Modi 'even a little bit', he would not have lost 99 elections.

The BJP spokesperson also referred to comments by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, who acknowledged a transformation in India under PM Modi's leadership. Mr. Patra said: 'Just think what New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said. And the Congress party in India refuses to accept it. I think our Opposition should also learn something.'

Mr. Patra further questioned Mr. Gandhi's whereabouts and itinerary, noting that a scheduled event in Prayagraj on July 10 had been postponed, as had an event in Patna. He said: 'There seem to be stamps on his passport from places like London, Iceland, and Germany, who knows? He is off on a tour.'

The Congress party has not yet issued an official response to the BJP's remarks. Mr. Gandhi's overseas travel comes at a time when the opposition is demanding a discussion on various issues in Parliament, including price rise and unemployment.

The Prime Minister's three-nation tour was aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new areas of cooperation. Official statements from the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted agreements in defence, trade, and technology sectors.

The BJP's press conference was part of a broader effort to showcase the government's foreign policy achievements ahead of upcoming state elections.
