BJP Protests in Parliament, Accuses Opposition of Avoiding Debate on Exam Paper Leaks

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday intensified its attack on the Congress and its allies over the issue of examination paper leaks, with party MPs raising slogans and carrying placards in the Parliament complex. They targeted opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of refusing to allow a discussion on the matter despite the government's stated willingness to debate.

BJP president Nitin Nabin accused Rahul Gandhi of avoiding a debate, asserting that the Congress feared exposure of its alleged double standards if a discussion took place in Parliament. He claimed that the opposition had misled and deceived the youth during its long tenure in government.

“I dare them to a debate, but Rahul and his allies will not agree. The NDA government has shaped the future of the youth in the right direction,” Nabin said, highlighting that India is now being recognised for its start-ups and unicorns. He alleged that the Congress views the youth as “stone-pelters” and asserted that the young population supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Former Union minister Anurag Thakur urged the opposition not to engage in petty politics with students' futures. Instead of running away from discussion, they should participate in a debate in Parliament, he said. Thakur also praised Modi's announcement to set up fast-track courts for swift and stringent punishment of those responsible for paper leaks.

Another BJP MP, Sudhanshu Trivedi, stated that the BJP and its allies are fully sensitive to the situation concerning paper leaks and the impact on students.

The opposition parties have not yet responded publicly to these allegations. The issue of paper leaks has been a contentious topic, with concerns raised over the integrity of examination processes affecting lakhs of students across the country.
