BJP Calls for Arrest of Punjab CM in Video Forgery Case
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday demanded the arrest of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging a conspiracy to forge forensic and cyber-analysis reports related to a controversial video purportedly involving him.
Speaking at a press conference, BJP leader and Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa referenced the arrest of two individuals by Gurugram police, who are accused of conspiring to produce forged reports about the video. Sirsa alleged that some Punjab police officials were involved and that ₹10 lakh was paid to generate the reports, which he claimed gave a “clean chit” to Mann.
Sirsa also questioned the “silence” of Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on the matter. He demanded that the Punjab police register a case and arrest Mann, accusing the Chief Minister of insulting Sikhs and the Akal Takht, the highest Sikh temporal seat, which had earlier called the video “anti-Guru”.
On June 16, Mann denied being the person in the video, describing it as “fake” and dismissing it as “a malicious and politically motivated conspiracy” allegedly orchestrated by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal to defame him and derail his government’s pro-people agenda.
