Bishnoi Gang Allegedly Threatens Actor Aamir Khan Over 'Love Jihad' Claim

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has been reportedly threatened by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in a social media post that could not be independently verified. The post, allegedly shared by the gang’s members, accuses the actor of promoting 'love jihad'—a term used by some groups to describe interfaith marriages—and warns of consequences.

The purported post, which the Mumbai Police are now examining, was attributed to Arzu Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi, associates of the incarcerated gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi. It stated that Khan's actions are 'against Sanatan Dharma and against the nation,' and vowed that he would be 'made to face the consequences.' The post also referenced a recent crime in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar, where a 13-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted, praising the local administration's swift response while warning political leaders not to shield the accused.

As of now, no formal complaint has been filed by Khan or his team, sources told police. Authorities are verifying the authenticity of the Facebook post and an accompanying voice note. If a complaint is received, a case may be registered, according to officials.

This incident comes amid a long history of threats from the Bishnoi gang against another Bollywood star, Salman Khan. The gang has claimed responsibility for a shooting outside Salman Khan's residence in April 2024 and has repeatedly threatened him over his alleged involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Lawrence Bishnoi, currently in jail, has previously stated in court that the gang would kill Salman Khan. The gang also claimed responsibility for the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in 2023, citing his proximity to Salman Khan.

The Bishnoi community reveres the blackbuck as a sacred animal, and the gang’s animosity toward Salman Khan stems from the actor's alleged hunting of the animal during the filming of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in 1998. The gang gained notoriety after the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022.

The latest threat against Aamir Khan appears to be based on his recent marriage, which some online users have linked to interfaith dynamics. Khan married his partner in a private ceremony in January 2025. The term 'love jihad' is often used by right-wing groups to allege a conspiracy by Muslim men to convert Hindu women through marriage, a claim that has been widely disputed and dismissed by courts and investigative agencies.

Police are monitoring the situation, and experts advise that such threats, even if unverified, should be taken seriously. The case highlights the growing intersection of celebrity culture, social media vigilantism, and organized crime in India.
