Bihar CM announces ₹1,047 crore projects, new townships and airport in Muzaffarpur
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 982 development projects worth ₹1,047.09 crore in Muzaffarpur district on Sunday. The event was organised by the Urban Development and Housing Department and Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation at the MIT Muzaffarpur ground.
The projects include 669 initiatives worth ₹375.04 crore under the Mukhyamantri Samagra Shahri Vikas Yojana, three projects worth ₹233.77 crore under the Storm Water Drainage Scheme, and the Muzaffarpur Smart City project worth ₹213.25 crore. Among the inaugurated projects was the Sikandarpur Lake Front, developed at a cost of ₹225.03 crore under the Smart City project. In total, 673 projects were inaugurated while foundation stones were laid for 309 others.
Mr. Choudhary announced the development of 12 new townships across the state, including the 'Tirhut Township' in Muzaffarpur. He stated that construction work for the Muzaffarpur airport would commence soon and that the Patna-Muzaffarpur Rapid Rail Corridor would reduce travel time between the cities to approximately 40 minutes.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the ongoing construction of a grand temple dedicated to Mata Sita in Sitamarhi. He also announced that a University of Architecture and Civil Engineering would be established within the MIT campus in Muzaffarpur, aimed at becoming a centre of excellence for technical education and research.
Mr. Choudhary reiterated the state government's zero-tolerance policy on corruption and cybercrime. He noted that approximately 5 lakh applications had been resolved through 'Sahyog Shivirs' (assistance camps) and invited unsatisfied applicants to visit the Chief Minister's secretariat in Patna on the second Tuesday of each month.
Highlighting women's empowerment, the Chief Minister said that funds had been transferred to the accounts of 1.81 crore 'Jeevika Didis' to support their livelihoods, with remaining beneficiaries to be covered to mark the completion of 100 days of the government.
