Bengaluru Police Foil Revenge Murder Plot, Arrest Seven Suspects

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru City has arrested seven individuals for allegedly conspiring to murder a history-sheeter in a revenge plot. The operation was conducted by the Organised Crime Wing (West Division) under Inspector S. Mahadevaiah.

According to police, the accused allegedly planned to kill Jowhar Abbas, a person with a criminal record, to avenge the murder of Hyder, the husband of one of the accused. Hyder was also known to have a criminal past. Investigators stated that Sabrina Taj, the widow of Hyder, and her brother-in-law, Shakeel Shabbir, allegedly arranged a contract killing by offering money to a gang.

The CCB said the conspiracy was uncovered through intelligence gathered within the Ashok Nagar police station limits. Police learned that the accused had allegedly procured illegal weapons and formed a gang. Surveillance indicated that the target frequently travelled through Ashok Nagar, Koramangala, and nearby areas, prompting the accused to plan an attack at a suitable opportunity. Further investigation suggested that Sabrina Taj intended to take over the target’s criminal operations after avenging her husband’s death.

Acting on credible information, the Organised Crime Wing conducted a special operation and apprehended the accused before the murder could be carried out. Those arrested include Sajjad, Nadeem, Nishanth, Vinod, Suman, Prem, Sonu, and Shivaprasad.

A case has been registered under provisions of the Indian Penal Code for attempt to murder and the Arms Act. Police said further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the conspiracy and identify any additional individuals involved.
