Bengaluru Airport's 'The Quad' to Double F&B Outlets, Add New Brands and Entertainment

Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is expanding its popular food and beverage plaza, The Quad, which opened in 2019 as India's first-of-its-kind airport F&B destination. Located in front of Terminal-1's arrival area, The Quad has become a hub not only for passengers but also for other airport visitors.

The refurbishment will double the number of F&B outlets and retail shops, introduce new brands and concepts, and enhance entertainment options, according to Pravat Paikray, Vice-President (Commercial) of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). Construction has already commenced, and the plaza will reopen in phases.

Originally conceived as an experiment, The Quad features The Arena, a space for live sports screenings and performances. Mr. Paikray noted that it is one of the few airport plazas worldwide that allows arrival passengers and non-travelers to use its facilities.

In addition to the expansion, BIAL plans to develop a similar plaza at Terminal-2, expected to open within six months to a year. Further, the airport is setting up F&B outlets and retail stores near the Multi-Modal Transport Hub (MMTH), designed to provide seamless public transport connections between the city and the airport. These will include a Starbucks Reserve, a microbrewery, and other retail offerings, aligned with the upcoming Namma Metro Blue Line, which will link the airport to Bengaluru's southern, southeastern, eastern, and northern neighborhoods.

The Quad's expansion reflects KIA's commitment to enhancing passenger experience and commercial offerings, as the airport prepares for increased connectivity via the metro rail.
