Armed Man Arrested Near Trump's California Golf Course Ahead of Fundraiser

Authorities in California have arrested a man on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and illegal ammunition near a golf course owned by Donald Trump, ahead of a fundraising dinner at the venue. The arrest took place on Sunday afternoon at the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, a coastal city in Los Angeles County.

The suspect, identified as Jeanine John Taele, 38, was observed by plainclothes federal agents walking through the golf course grounds, taking photographs and videos, and appearing to monitor security-planning activities, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. The agents reported the suspicious person to local authorities, who then confronted Taele.

During the confrontation, police discovered that Taele was wanted in connection with a robbery investigation by the El Segundo Police Department, located about 15 miles north of Rancho Palos Verdes. A search of his person and vehicle found a loaded pistol, a 16-round magazine containing hollow-point ammunition, and a loaded magazine with similar ammunition.

The sheriff's department said Taele is being held on charges of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of armour-piercing or prohibited ammunition. Hollow-point bullets are designed to expand on impact, causing more damage than standard rounds. California has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States, including a ban on magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds.

On Monday, investigators from the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes Bureau searched Taele's home in Downey, another Los Angeles-area city. The search was conducted due to the potential security implications of the incident. Inside the home, authorities found an illegally modified AR-platform rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, body armour, high-capacity magazines, a large quantity of ammunition, and multiple notebooks containing what they described as concerning statements.

The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the US Secret Service. Officials have indicated that additional charges may be filed later. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department stated that although no credible threat to communities has been identified, the case highlights the importance of vigilance and cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Donald Trump is scheduled to visit the golf course on Tuesday to attend a Republican Party fundraising dinner. The event is part of his current trip to California.
