Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Approves ₹9,355 Crore Drinking Water Schemes, Loan Waiver for Amaravati Farmers
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has cleared over 30 proposals aimed at boosting the state's economy and sustainable development. The decisions include 10 multi-village drinking water schemes worth ₹9,355 crore to improve access to safe drinking water in rural areas.
Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathi announced that the Cabinet approved a farm loan waiver of up to ₹1.5 lakh for farmers from seven villages who will surrender land in the second phase of the Amaravati capital city project. The waiver applies to loans taken before January 6, 2026.
The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court in Visakhapatnam. Amendments to the AP Capital City Land Pooling Scheme Rules were cleared to enhance annuity benefits for landowners who entered into land pooling agreements on or after June 12, 2024. The annuity for dry land (metta) has been increased from ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 per acre, and for wet land (jaribu) from ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 per acre, for a period of 10 years, aligning with the APCRDA resolution adopted on July 7, 2026.
In tourism promotion, the Cabinet sanctioned ₹50 crore and approved incentives for ITC Hotel in Nellore, Madhavi Hotel in Kadapa, and Sarovar Portico Hotel in Vijayawada. An integrated amusement park in Kadapa was also cleared.
Education initiatives include the establishment of Ambedkar Gurukul Centres of Excellence in Visakhapatnam, Guntur, and Nellore, and residential coaching for students preparing for IIT-JEE and NEET examinations. Other approvals cover modernisation of command area under Peddagedda Reservoir, development of feeder channels and Beeraganipalle Reservoir in Kuppam, and land allocation for institutions cleared by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).
