Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP of Exploiting Religion for Money Amid Ram Temple Controversy
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 'politics of religion and money has come to an end,' referencing the ongoing controversy over alleged irregularities in offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
In a post on social media, Yadav claimed that even supporters of the BJP have begun to realise that 'for BJP leaders, money is above religion.' He further alleged that the party would now focus solely on 'politics of money' as its 'politics of religion' had ended, warning that corruption and inflation would continue to rise under the BJP's rule.
Yadav also took a swipe at the ruling party, ending his post with the slogan: 'Jo BJP ka saathi, woh Ramghati (Those who are supporting BJP are betraying Lord Ram).'
The remarks come amid reports of discrepancies in the management and accounting of donations made at the under-construction Ram Temple. The opposition has seized on the issue to question the BJP's commitment to its core religious agenda. The BJP has dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
Akhilesh Yadav's statements reflect the intensifying political battle between the Samajwadi Party and the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, where the Ram Temple has been a central electoral and ideological symbol for the ruling party.
