Akal Takht Releases Video: Punjab CM Mann Agrees to Forensic Probe in Controversial Clip Row
The Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Saturday released a video of a conversation among Akal Takht Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and the CM's personal assistant, Rajbir Singh Ghuman. The video, purportedly recorded in January, shows the parties agreeing to subject a controversial clip featuring the chief minister to forensic examination.
The release comes five days after the Sri Akal Takht Sahib declared Mann 'Guru Dokhi' (anti-Guru) and 'Khalsa Panth Virodhi' (opposed to the Khalsa Panth), claiming that an earlier objectionable video of the chief minister was not doctored.
In the newly released video, Jathedar Gargaj is heard telling the chief minister that he could not confirm the authenticity of the clip and called for a formal inquiry. “I don’t know if this video is true or false. This is a subject for investigation,” the Jathedar says.
The development adds a new dimension to the ongoing controversy, as both sides now appear to agree on the need for a technical probe to determine the clip's genuineness.
