Ahmedabad Blast: 4 Dead, Several Injured at Illegal Firecracker Factory
At least four persons were killed and several others injured in a blast and fire at an illegal firecracker factory in Ramol area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, according to police officials. The toll is expected to rise as some of the injured are in critical condition.
The explosion occurred at 3:30 p.m. at the factory located on Ramol-Gatrad road, a police official said. The facility, operating without a valid licence, was set up on an open farm, as confirmed by Joint Commissioner of Police Jaipal Singh Rathore.
Emergency services, including personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services, rushed to the spot to extinguish the blaze and carry out rescue operations. The fire department has deployed resources to control the situation.
Police stated that a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other offences will be registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Explosives Act. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the blast and to identify those responsible for operating the illegal unit.
