19-Year-Old NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide in Hyderabad, Note Says No One Responsible
A 19-year-old medical aspirant, Sheikh Sana, was found dead in her apartment in Hyderabad on Saturday, a day before the NEET re-examination. Police have registered a case of suicide and are investigating.
According to police, a note recovered from the spot stated, 'No one is responsible for my death. I am taking my life.' The note did not mention academic pressure or any other specific reason.
Sana, who had completed her intermediate education, was living in an apartment in Hyderabad's Miyapur area with her two younger siblings. Her parents reside in Kuwait. Their aunt, who lives nearby, took care of the children.
On Saturday, the three sisters ordered breakfast through an online app. After eating, Sana went into her room and locked it to study for the exam, her siblings told police. Around noon, when the siblings knocked on her door to call her for lunch, she did not respond. They alerted their aunt, who called the police.
Police broke open the door and found Sana hanging from the ceiling fan. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Inspector P Shiva Prasad said the family has been informed and an investigation is underway. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
The NEET re-examination was scheduled for Sunday. Sana had reportedly appeared for the earlier exam but had to rewrite it due to a technical issue.
