152 Exam Paper Leak Cases, Zero Convictions: Rahul Gandhi Calls Out System Failure
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday highlighted the lack of convictions in examination paper leak cases across India, stating that despite over 150 reported incidents, no one has been punished so far.
Speaking at the second 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' (Voice of Students) rally in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Gandhi said approximately 7.5 crore students have been affected by 152 cases of paper leaks, yet no convictions have been secured. “One per cent uses the system and follows the path of paper leaks, and hurts 99 per cent others who are honest and poor,” he added.
The Congress leader emphasised that the rally was not a political meeting but a platform for addressing youth concerns about their future, struggles, and difficulties. The first such rally was held in Kota, Rajasthan, on June 17. Further rallies are planned in other cities.
Earlier in the day, Gandhi met the family of a party worker who died in a freak accident during preparations for the event. The worker, Amar Mehta (65), was killed on Thursday after being struck by an iron rod that fell from a tent erected at the Bannu School grounds in Dehradun. State Congress president Ganesh Godiyal said Gandhi visited Mehta's residence and offered condolences.
Upon arrival at Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun, Gandhi was welcomed by party workers and presented with a memento made of Bhojpatra (birch bark), associated with the Badrinath Dham shrine.
