15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashes fastest List A fifty in 11 balls during India A-Sri Lanka A final

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old opening batter, made history on Sunday by scoring the fastest half-century in List A cricket, reaching 50 off just 11 balls during the Tri-Nation Series final against Sri Lanka A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

Asked to bat first after Sri Lanka A won the toss and opted to bowl, Sooryavanshi launched an aggressive assault from the very first delivery. He flat-batted Mohamed Shiraz for a boundary off the first ball and continued his onslaught in Shiraz's second over, smashing three sixes and two fours to collect 26 runs. He reached his fifty off the next ball, surpassing the previous record for the fastest half-century in List A cricket.

The teenager, who entered the final after a string of low scores and an incident involving a shove with an opposition player earlier in the week, turned his form around dramatically with a fearless display of power hitting. His innings included six sixes and five fours, and he was dismissed for 54 off 14 balls.

Sooryavanshi's record-breaking knock helped India A post a formidable total, putting them in a strong position to defend against Sri Lanka A in the final. The match is being played at the Dambulla International Stadium, with the hosts chasing a challenging target.
