YSRCP launches ‘Jagan 2.0 Super App’ to connect party workers directly with leadership
Andhra Pradesh's main opposition party, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), launched the 'Jagan 2.0 Super App' on Friday, a digital platform designed to enable direct communication between party workers and the leadership.
The app was unveiled by party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the YSRCP office in Tadepalli. Party leaders said the platform will allow workers to express their views without fear and stay connected with the organisational hierarchy.
Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that the app was launched at a time when content posted by YSRCP supporters on social media was being arbitrarily deleted, alleging attempts to suppress their voices through conspiracies. The app aims to provide an alternative channel for party communication.
The move comes a year after actor-turned-politician Vijay launched a similar app for his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. YSRCP's initiative is seen as a parallel effort to strengthen its digital outreach among cadre.
The app is expected to offer features such as real-time updates from the leadership, feedback mechanisms, and a platform for workers to report issues. Party officials said it would also help in coordinating grassroots activities and disseminating official messages.
Political analysts note that the use of dedicated party apps has grown in Indian politics, with parties like the BJP and Congress also deploying similar tools. The YSRCP's app is tailored to its organisational structure, with layers of access for different levels of workers.
The launch comes as the party prepares for future electoral battles, including local body elections and the next assembly polls. The YSRCP has been emphasising technology-driven engagement to retain its cadre base in the state.
