Yogi Adityanath announces Youth Policy for UP with focus on skill, AI, and entrepreneurship

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a new ‘Youth Policy’ for the state during the state-level Independence Day celebrations held at Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow on Saturday, August 15, 2026. He described the state’s youth as its greatest strength.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Adityanath said the policy would adopt an integrated approach to strengthen skill development, innovation, and employment opportunities for the youth. “The government’s resolve is to put skill, innovation and employment in the hands of every youth,” he said. He added that the policy would focus on making optimal use of the capabilities and potential of young people.

According to the Chief Minister, the upcoming policy is expected to emphasise skill development, employment generation, artificial intelligence (AI), and entrepreneurship, with implementation through a dedicated mechanism. The full details of the policy are yet to be released.

Mr. Adityanath highlighted the government’s action against “cheating mafia” and “recruitment mafia” as part of efforts to transform the state’s demographic dividend into a “development engine.” He also spoke about improvements in law and order under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

“With this historic improvement in law and order, Uttar Pradesh has now transformed from Upadrav Pradesh (State of Unrest) to Utsav Pradesh (State of Celebrations),” he said. He further stated that Uttar Pradesh, once counted among the BIMARU states, now plays the role of the “growth engine” of the country’s economy. “By ending policy paralysis, the state has been established as a ‘dream destination’ for investment,” he added.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the safety and empowerment of women. “Today, our sisters and daughters can go to the market at any time, go alone for their studies, return home from work and fulfil their dreams,” he said. He added that over the past nine years, women have been given dignity and “freedom from insecurity.”

Concluding his address, Mr. Adityanath said, “We are building an Uttar Pradesh where there is heritage as well as the technology of the future. Where the pride of culture and the pace of modernity will move together, the roots of tradition will remain strong, and the wings of development will be seen touching the sky.”

The announcement comes as the state, with a large young population, continues to focus on employment generation and skill upgradation. The state government is expected to release the policy details in the coming months, outlining specific programmes and targets for youth development.

Armed Naxals gone, now identify and isolate 'dimagi Naxals': PM Modi

In his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced new youth-focused initiatives and urged the identification and isolation of what he termed 'dimagi Naxals' — intellectual sympathisers of Maoism. He distinguished them from armed Naxals, which the government says have been largely eliminated. The remarks have sparked debate over dissent and the government's approach to left-wing extremism.
